Spring break in Austin

It is a rare occasion that the girls and I have the same spring break, so we wanted to take advantage of being on the same schedule this year to do something fun. We took a road trip with my mom and dad (Dave unfortunately had to work) down to Austin, Texas to visit my brother and his girlfriend. My sister flew down to meet up with us. For part of the trip, we stayed at a house rental just a few blocks away from my brother, but the best was being able to stay the second half of the trip in the house that shares a wall with theirs. It was a really nice place! Here are some of the fun things we did during the week:

A stop (or two) at Buc-cee's was a must--the girls had fun picking out souvenirs

On a hot day, Barton Springs was a must!

The botanical gardens were beautiful

We waited hours for Franklin's BBQ, but it was worth it!

The Pease Park treehouse was so unique!

We visited Blanton Museum of Art on a rainy day

Enjoyed lots of family time!

Did some shopping and found fun murals!

Visited Gruene, TX with my mom and dad--a cute little town!

Art show

Norah's art teacher chose her artwork to be displayed at the district art show this spring. Norah definitely has a creative side, and she was excited to see the artwork displayed by kids in middle/high school--lots of opportunities for art classes in the future! She also loved watching the musical performances.

First Communion

Norah celebrated her first communion in March this year. It is a faith stepping stone that 5th graders take at our church. She and Dave took a Saturday morning class together, which is really fun and interactive. They even made the communion wafers that morning! I can't wait to see where Norah's faith journey takes her in life!

Norah's 11th birthday

We had fun celebrating Norah's 11th birthday with family and friends! Doing an escape room was on Norah's birthday wish list, so we had fun doing one with my dad and sister, plus Dave's sister. We had tacos and cake afterward with everyone.

Norah was very excited to get a pair of rollerskates for her birthday! Another wish list item that was inspired by the rollerskating unit they do in Phy. Ed. at our school.

For Norah's friend party, she wanted to do Feed My Starving Children and eat pizza at Davanni's, like she did with her friends last year. The girls had a blast!
