Halloween

Halloween this year ended up being on a Sunday, which is kind of a bummer for trick-or-treating, but we still had fun!  Abby had her friend Kira over, and my parents came up as well, which has been a tradition when it works out in their schedule.

The girls got plenty of treats!

Norah and my dad went as a witch and wizard

Kira and Abby reused their costume from last year and went as Stitch

Our traditional orange sides

Jack-o-lantern pizza--another tradition

Norah doesn't often get pop, so she was excited for a Sunkist!

Norah helped my mom make the orange Jello

We visited the library on the Friday before for their Halloween party

Not the MEA we planned...

Unfortunately, the day after we got back from our fun weekend with the Pakiz family (and two days before I was supposed to fly to Texas for a girls' weekend), we discovered that Norah was running a fever. We didn't realize this until she had been at school all day and to her ukulele and piano lessons, when at supper, she complained about how cold she had been all day (even though it was a warm day for October).  She tested positive for covid the next day, and I ended up postponing the girls' trip so that I could stay home with her without needing to make sub plans (so Dave could take most of the next week when she still had to quarantine.  We were thankful that the rest of us were able to avoid getting sick and didn't have to quarantine since we had no symptoms and were vaccinated.  Norah was pretty lethargic and had a fever for several days, and not much appetite.  When she was feeling up to it, she found some activities to help pass the time:

Grandma Nass sent some fun things to do via Amazon

Lots of reading time for me as well, since we tried to keep our distance while Norah quarantined

Fun new Legos from Grandma Nass

Our sweet neighbor, Joan, dropped off a cookie decorating kit for Norah

Lots of Sadie snuggles since she couldn't snuggle up with the rest of us

I finished a puzzle from my birthday in July!

Reading on Sadie's dog bed

When Norah was feeling better, we had time to carve our pumpkins

Norah loved these Harry Potter bead/sticker  things

Hot chocolate makes everything better!

B & B

Dave and I have had the opportunity to stay at this amazing bed and breakfast over the years, as well as our good friends, Todd and Kaysie (though never at the same time).  We were so sad to hear that they had decided to close the B&B after the covid shutdown, but the owners did decide to rent out the house on Vrbo.  We debated booking the place for a weekend, but in the end, decided to go for it.  I am so glad we did--it was an amazing weekend full of fun, laughs, games, golf-carting, and so many memories.

Brayden was a good sport for a charcoal face mask on our last night

Lots of games of Carbles were played!

Sadie and Ryder got along well for the weekend!

Abby loved driving the golf cart

The kids rode the golf carts for hours!

We went for a paddleboat ride around the little lake

Yummy, easy meals!

Dave and Todd enjoyed the reading material on the bookshelves

We joined the kids and rode around some of the trails
