Abby turns 11!

I can't believe that Abby is already 11!  The years have truly flown by, and middle school is now right around the corner.  She spread out the celebration by opening presents the night before her birthday.  I love that she was still so excited about getting a music teacher Barbie...not sure how much longer she will still be into Barbies, so we will enjoy it while it lasts.

For her birthday breakfast, Abby wanted donuts and scrambled eggs.  Since I was off this week, I was able to bring her Subway for lunch.  After the girls got home from school, we drove down to Owatonna to meet up with all of the grandmas and grandpas and Jenny for supper at Famous Dave's.

We ended the day with Cakewalk cupcakes and a game of Carbles (Abby's choice).

She was SO not looking forward to her doctor's visit and middle school shots, but we went in quick the day after her birthday since I'm on break.  She had to get three shots, but was a trooper.  Her stats for 11 years old are:  weight--60 lbs.--5th percentile; height--4 feet, 7 inches--37th percentile.

Abby had a fun birthday party a couple of weekends later with some of her best friends--Olivia, Kira, and Avery.  We volunteered at Feed My Starving Children, went out for pizza at Davanni's, and they had a sleepover at our house.

Student of the Month

Abby was named "Student of the Month" by her teacher again this year.  We are so proud of her!

Nickelodeon Universe

We met up with Dave's cousin Jenny, her husband Wade, and little girl Grace at the Mall of America.  Jenny had free all-day passes for the kids, so they had fun going on rides all morning.

We enjoyed lunch together at Buffalo Wild Wings, then did a couple more rides before the kids were tired.  They always love time with Grace!

Norah turns 7!

It's crazy--our baby turned 7!  Norah decided to have her friend Breia over for a sleepover this year for her birthday.  The girls had lots of fun playing, doing a scavenger hunt, making Papa Murphy's mini-murphs, painting on canvases, and watching "The Greatest Showman".

On Norah's actual birthday, she requested lunch at Chuck E. Cheese with all of the grandparents and Jenny.

Norah had a pretty uneventful trip to the doctor the next week for her well-child checkup.  No shots this time!  Her stats this year are:  weight--43 pounds (16th percentile); height--3 feet, 10 inches (23rd percentile).

Riverbend Nature Center field trip

I was fortunate enough to be able to join Norah's class this year for a field trip to Riverbend Nature Center in Faribault.  Because of all of the school days cancelled while we were in Florida, I got four personal days back.  I need to use two before the school year is over, so this was the perfect opportunity to use one.  They also had to reschedule this field trip, because it was originally supposed to take place during the week we were gone in Florida.  It was a perfect day for this field trip--lots of snow on the ground, great temperatures for being outside all day, and even beautiful falling snow.

Norah's group first did kicksledding.  Norah and her friend had a great time pushing each other around the track.

After kicksledding, her group did animal tracking on a hike through the woods before lunch.  After lunch, they snowshoed.  Norah did great, and would love to try it again sometime!
