Christmas break

Here we are, Back-to-School Eve--11 days went by SO fast!  I'm trying not to get too sad about it, thinking that there are only 3 days of school this week, and just 3 short weeks until our Disney trip with Dave's family.  January will go fast!  We had a busy break...it started with a bang on Friday afternoon when I got out of school--we were supposed to have our little family Christmas that night, but Dave called to let me know that he was heading to the ER to get his ribs checked out.  He had fallen on some hard-packed snow at work, right on top of a metal gas can--2 broken ribs later, he finally made it home with some pain meds and instructions to not lift anything over 15 pounds for at least a week.  Because of that, Dave ended up not having to work the weekend, so we were able to do our family Christmas Saturday morning when the girls woke up.

Sunday started the whirlwind travel tour...Albert Lea Christmas, then Iowa for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Both of the girls were sick with colds, so it was a bummer to have to skip the Christmas Eve church service, but they definitely needed an early night's sleep that night with all of the Christmas excitement.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed Christmas with my family in Rochester.  We discovered that poor Norah had a double ear infection--one downside to having such a happy girl--it's hard to tell when she's not feeling well!  Luckily, she got on antibiotics right away and is feeling much better.

We are so blessed to have such generous and fun family members!  It's always fun to spend time with them, and it always goes way too fast.

Even though we had so much fun seeing everyone, I have to admit that it was nice to get back home on Sunday to enjoy the last couple of days of break.  I forgot to bring my camera, but we enjoyed celebrating New Year's Eve with Abby's friend Olivia and her family--just low-key, play time, movie, and pizza--but perfect for our girls.  These past couple of days, we've done some organizing, cleaning, took down the Christmas decorations/tree, and are hopefully refreshed and ready to get back to our normal routine!

  1. Glad you had a nice time with family. It's so exciting that you only have a few weeks to wait for another week of family fun!
